ESPR (Reg. (EU) 2024/1781) is in force. The EU Central DPP Registry went live in mid-July 2026 (Implementing Reg. (EU) 2026/1778). Requirements land product group by product group via delegated acts; once your group's act is adopted you typically have 18 months before enforcement. Iron & steel is first (adoption expected 2026); textiles, tyres and aluminium follow (~2027).

When does the EU Digital Product Passport become mandatory?

It phases in product group by product group through ESPR delegated acts. The EU Central DPP Registry went live in mid-July 2026. Iron and steel is first (adoption expected 2026); textiles, tyres and aluminium follow around 2027. Once your group's delegated act is adopted, you generally have 18 months before enforcement.

What does a Digital Product Passport require?

A unique product identifier, a data carrier such as a GS1 Digital Link QR or DataMatrix on the product, the product attributes set by the delegated act, and registration of the identifiers with the EU Central DPP Registry — with a persistent, resolvable link to the live passport.

Who is responsible for the DPP?

The economic operator placing the product on the EU market — the manufacturer, importer, or authorised representative.
